Adventure Begins: Young People Head Off to Dounans

This week, our young people have set off on a residential trip to Dounans Outdoor Centre, ready for a few days of adventure, learning, and fun in the great outdoors.

The trip is designed to give them a chance to step away from their usual routines and take part in a wide range of outdoor activities. From high ropes and canoeing to team challenges and campfire evenings, the experience encourages confidence, cooperation, and personal growth.

Dounans, located in Aberfoyle within Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, is operated by the Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC). It offers over 30 acres of woodland, a lochan for water activities, and direct access to the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. The centre is well-known for hosting school and youth group residentials, with facilities designed to support outdoor learning and personal development.

For many of the young people, this is a chance to try something new—whether that’s navigating through the forest, building a raft, or simply spending time in nature with friends. These kinds of trips are not just about physical activity; they’re also about building relationships, developing resilience, and creating lasting memories.

We’re looking forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return—and we’ll be sharing updates and photos soon!
